Dr. Douglas Abeles as an Active Member of the Community
Apart from being a doctor who specializes in orthopedics, spine surgery and sports medicine, he also spends a lot of time doing good deeds, especially those that will benefit the community and its people. In fact, whenever Dr. Douglas Abeles has the time and resources, he does everything that he can to support the community and that includes donating to charities and participating in the activities of non-profit organizations as well.
For example, he has joined the “Adapt a family” program of Brighter Beginnings. It is a program that aims to connect families with donors who are willing to offer seasonal gifts to deserving families. In this program, the families with a low income are matched with donors who purchases gifts that are fit for the season, especially during Christmas and these gifts are then dropped off at one of the centers of Brighter Beginnings. Dr. Douglas Abeles sees this as an opportunity to form a smile on the face of families even through his simple gifts. So, instead of spending all the money that he has earned for himself, he gives a portion of it to Bright Beginnings instead.
Apart from donating money, he also invests his time and effort in this program. In fact, he also helps Brighter Beginnings to gather gifts for holidays and now that the Christmas season is getting nearer, for sure, Dr. Douglas Abeles has already started gathering gifts from his family and friends to fulfill people’s wish list. Whenever he has the time, he also volunteers to the organization’s wrapping events or at least encourages other people to participate in it as well. He does this for he loves the feeling of being able to provide gift bundles to the needy. After all, holidays are meant to be celebrated even by low income families.
Dr. Douglas Abeles is not only active in Brighter Beginnings for he is also active in Alameda County Food Bank, summer food drive and holiday food drive specifically. While Brighter Beginnings deliver gifts to families, especially to children, the Alameda County Food Bank aims to provide meals to people, especially during holidays. He helps raise awareness of this important cause of the organization. In fact, he also encourages his co-workers, employees, families and even friends to come and participate in the mission of the Food Bank.
He is aware of the fact that many children out there relies on the lunch programs of their school to eat notorious meals and as summer means that these children are on break from school, this also means that they would also not be able to supply their body with the nutrition that it needs. So, Dr. Douglas Abeles has decided to participate in the Summer Food Drive of the organization. After all, he aims to make a difference in the lives of these children by providing them delicious yet nutritious meals until school starts.
It is also a known fact that as holidays starts, the need for nutritious meals that would fill in the stomach of the hungry increases as well. So, Dr. Douglas Abeles exerts the best effort to be of help to the organization to meet this demand. Also, he always genuinely donated his money for he knows that it would all go to needy individuals of all ages. So, he continues to sponsor the events of Alameda County Food Bank and surely, he would continue doing so even in the future. One can truly see that he is compassionate to the needy and that is also why he is living a blessed life.
